X Solitare (1998)

A round of solitaire, almost won

X Solitare (xsol) is a VERY basic Klondike solitaire implementation. It doesn't have card art, it doesn't automatically flip cards and does not detect a win state. If you place all the kings in the foundations... nothing happens at all. It's just up to you to start it again, I guess.

Or play a better implementation. Any one. It's hard to find one more basic than this. It does at least have visible drag and drop, but overall I think the older xsol is more charming.

XSol is written by Brian Masney in 1998 and uses the Motif framework.

The following is a demonstration of XSol, in which I fail at sorting cards.

Yup, xsol is still packaged in Debian, and probably other non-Debian derivatives too. For whatever reason.

More general information on old X games can be found in the Old X Games article.
