Maintenance Level (System Shock)

A remake of the much feared third deck of Citadel station, from System Shock.  In the original there were “invisible mutants” roaming the corridors, looking for a hacker to feed on.  They weren’t completely invisible, but they were hard enough to see that they often caught you by surprise.  Not to mention they hurt a lot and were difficult to kill.  Thankfully, no mutants here, just some bots or friends to go kill.

This is a direct port of the Unreal map, with a Domination version added.

Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss

A remake of the entire game of Ultima Underworld for Unreal Tournament. Each map is generally enhanced over the original version, so you can expect your favourite areas from the classic game to have a great new feel to them. A few of the maps, in addition to Deathmatch, also support other game modes. This will be listed under each level.

These maps were created though the support of Emperor Dracula from Epic Class productions. I would recommend you check out his site for many large RTS maps. The map can be downloaded there as well.

If you have never played Ultima Underworld, let me give you a bit of background. Ultima Underworld was and is a great 3D action/rpg/adventure made by Looking Glass Studios. Like the other Ultima games, you played the role of the Avatar, and you must rescue the Baron’s daughter, Arial, from the Great Stygian Abyss, a dungeon inside a volcano. Once you find out why she was kidnapped, though, things become more interesting.

Ultima Underworld was released in 1992, one week before Wolfenstein. It sported a superior engine, capable of many things most did not see until Duke Nukem 3D. Unfortunately it was overlooked by all the hordes craving the mindless shooting of Wolfenstein. If you like these levels, I would HIGHLY recommend you give Ultima Underworld a shot, it’s still a GREAT game. Just go to TTLG’s Underworld Page and have a look around. I would recommend buying the game, but you will be hard pressed to find somewhere that still carries it. There hasn’t been another game quite like it ever since (aside from Ultima Underworld 2).

Aquilus Residence

The Structure The Aquaducts The Library On the Roof

A small manor set in a rock face, with a canyon running alongside it, and aqueducts in behind. Most fun with 2 on 2 teamplay, in my opinion.

Comes with Custom music from Crusader, No Remorse. Some might say it’s a bit slow for Deathmatch, but I think it adds atmosphere to the map. If you really don’t like it, just turn off music.

Bafford’s Manor (Thief: The Dark Project)

Bafford’s Manor, the first level of Thief: The Dark Project, recreated for Unreal Tournament. This was originally a level for Unreal, but converted to Unreal Tournament. Aside from the direct conversion, there are a few improvements over the original.

The Pits of Carnage (Ultima Underworld 2: Labyrinth of Worlds)

A loving recreation of the four arenas in the Pits of Carnage from Ultima Underworld 2. The arenas (for those of you unfamiliar with UW2) are Fire, Water, Air and Earth. In the Pits of Carnage, there was no hope of escape, and the common pastime was personal combat. If you disliked a person, you would challenge them to a duel their choice of the four arenas. Now, you can duel your friends in UT!

These maps were originally imported from Unreal, then retextured and otherwise enhanced. Unlike in Unreal, the bots work in all maps.

Also available is a combined version, where all four arenas are linked together into one map. Great for larger games.

Dead Simple (Doom 2: Hell on Earth)

Centre Side Hall The Redeemer

A recreation of the much favoured Doom 2 map 07, Dead Simple.  If you enjoyed playing the original, you will love this.  Unlike some remakes of this map, the layout is exactly the same as the Doom 2 level, even with the Redeemer replacing the BFG.  If the redeemer is a bit excessive for you (the BFG was pretty excessive in Doom 2), just turn it off with the No Redeemer mutator.

Beta Grove (System Shock)

Maintenance Access Central Bridge Side Area Hillside

A recreation of Beta Grove, from System Shock. The groves were simulated earth-like environments so that the inhabitants of Citadel Station could relax in a comfortable setting after a stressful day at work. Shodan, however, had other uses for this particular Grove…

This is a direct port of the Unreal level, with the addition of a Domination version.
